Their phone systems may be down and their internet may or may not be working at all.
This outage is effecting several carriers including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, US Cellular and Cricket. Althought the culprit remains a mystery at this point, there are several explanations being provided. According to Wate.com, "A spokesperson for AT&T said the problem was related to the company’s hardware. U.S. Cellular similarly blamed two routers with a third-party vendor, which it did not name." (wate.com) Sprint is also claiming the disruption in service is being caused by a "local exchange provider". In other words, a local phone company is the reason for this massive outage of services.
